Showed him the painting William Stocker gave me, that I'm using for The Reborn Princess Caper. Don't know what I'll use "The River" for. Wonder if I can get him to do the artwork for "Akbash!"?

♦ Finished creating DAT files for all poems and songs. Removed empty DAT files that made holes in the array of file names. Removed extra blank lines in DAT files that made blank lines in poems.html file. Checked that every link works, fixed the one that was broken. Confirmed that all the other line breaks in the middle of titles could be indented without breaking the link to the poem or song, because they occur in the title text only; and changed the DAT files to match.
♦ Started work on a Perl program to generate a three-column list of items down the columns, instead of across them.

Made good progress on it after that, including setting up the footnotes so that clicking on a footnote number takes you to the footnote, and clicking on the footnote takes you back to the footnote number. Bibliographic citations will work the same way, but I'm doing them as I get to them, to make sure they're all actually used.

♦ Read Daily Kos after posting a long reply to a comment about "Thrice Ended".
♦ Added remaining appendices to "Queen" TOC. Got partway through final revision and cleanup of Chapter 2.
♦ During nap 1700-1830 had an old-style Superman dream where he's rushing around saving babies and children from deadly magical traps, no time to try to figure out what's going on. Years back, "govt" on Mxyzptlk's "world" forbid M. to pester Superman any more, and he wasn't a killer, anyway. So SM's baffled. Meanwhile, various imp super-heroes are on the case from the other end, they track down the source of the killer toys and magical traps, and yup, it's M., frustrated and defying the "govt" and hoping to hide that he's gone criminal and wants to kill children on Earth to make Superman look like a failure. Chase and fight scene. LIH (Legion of Imp Heroes) put M. behind bars without his powers, send a magical comm. to SM telling him the menace is over, etc. He's a bit put out that he didn't stop it, but "Hey, you can't be the hero ALL the time," SG says, and "You saved all those children. That makes you the real hero," Lois says, and they kiss him on each cheek.
♦ Searched for images of prick spurs, created illo for Order of the Spur. Finished hopefully-final edit of Chapter 2 of "Queen" and uploaded LMQ.html and os.jpg to web site.

Copied all the old images to images directory in current "Queen" directory. Replaced black-and-white initial letter D with new one found on the internet and edited. and A.D. both) and lines starting with lozenges. Removed non-breaking spaces after lozenges, again. Deleted double spaces. Replaced periods, question marks, and exclamation marks followed by one space with the same followed by two.

♦ Did SAL, uploaded sal.txt, s10.html, and stories.html to web site, announced it on FB. Figured out a way to get a pretty accurate count of roots and words using GREP; not 100% accurate, but pretty close. Including today's stuff, 171 roots and 1893 words.
♦ To get a completely accurate count, (1) replace strong tags with alternative bold tag, and em tag with alternative italic tags; or (2) use CSS, e.g., 'h3 class="root"' or 'span class="root"', em or span class="stem" and em or span class="word" for precise, logical markers that also distinguish stems from words by appearance, e.g. stems could be small caps. Think about pros and cons of both approaches, and automate counts with a macro.
♦ Read yesterday's work on Chapter 18. Almost done with Chapter 18! Only the actual duel left to write.
♦ Might have just finished chapter 18! Re-read it tomorrow and decide if I need to stretch the fight scene out a little more. As it stands, the book is 36,624 bytes longer than it was at the end of chapter 17, or 7,325 "words". Still need to do chapters 19 and 20, and complete the appendices.
♦ Partook in Write On! Reviewed chapter 18, wrote a little bit more. uploaded meeting.html and stories.html, announced it on FB. meeting₁₇ = 602,717 bytes. meeting₁₈ = 641,186 bytes. Difference = 38,469 bytes = 7694 words.
